Story Time Plan: Blue!

January 14, 2013 by Andrea

I was inspired to try my own hand at some color themed story times, inspired by Storytime Katie and Awesome Storytime.

Little Blue Truck by Alice Schertle                                                           J PICTURE SCH

What’s the Matter Bunny Blue? by Nicola Smee                                   J PICTURE SME

In a Blue Room by Jim Averbeck                                                              J PICTURE AVE

It Looked Like Spilt Milk by George Shaw

MUSIC:           “Three Blue Pigeons” Wee Sing

Welcome Song: If You’re Happy and You Know It

Blue, Blue
Blue, blue is the color I see
If you’re wearing blue, then show it to me
Stand up, take a bow, turn around
Show me your blue and sit back on the ground

Little Boy Blue (I used a Mother Goose picture book to illustrate the rhyme)
Little boy blue, come blow your horn;
The sheep’s in the meadow, the cow’s in the corn.
Where’s is the boy who looks after the sheep?
He’s under the haystack, fast asleep.

The Blueberry Bush
(Tune: The Mulberry Bush)
Here we go round the blueberry bush,
The blueberry bush, the blueberry bush.
Here we go round the blueberry bush,
So early in the morning.

Pick the blueberries small and round…
Taste the blueberries, ripe and sweet…

Three Blue Pigeons
Three blue pigeons sitting on a wall.
Three blue pigeons sitting on a wall.
One flew away!
Two blue pigeons…
Another flew away…
One blue pigeon…
And the third flew away..
No blue pigeons…
One flew back! Wee!
One blue pigeon…
Another flew back, wee!
Two blue pigeons…
And the third flew back, wee!
Three blue pigeons, sitting on a wall!
Three blue pigeons sitting on a wall! Three blue pigeons sitting on the wall!

Little Bluebird
Little bluebird rests in a tree.
Little bluebird looks at me.
Little bluebird chirps, “Hello.”
(Tap thumb and index finger together to near mouth- the ASL sign for “bird”)
Spread your wings and away you go!

  1. Katie says:

I love the change in “Mulberry Bush” to “Blueberry Bush” to fit! Very smart!
