Story Time Plan: Red!

January 28, 2013 by Andrea

Red went really well, it was only a little bit shorter than what I wanted. Red was good for props, so I had a red ladybug for the rhyme, a red bird for Mary wore her red dress (which creepily makes its natural birdcall noise so Mary “sang” along) and a red apple. The books worked well text and picturewise, One Red Apple is good for I Spy and my group loves coming up to a book a pointing out a buzzing bee or a blue bird. The apple falling on everyone’s head was the biggest hit by far though.

BOOKS:
One Red Apple by Harriet Ziefert           J PICTURE ZIE
Red Truck by Kersten Hamilton       J PICTURE HAM

MUSIC:               Mary Wore Her Red Dress, Raffi
                           Big Red Car, The Wiggles

SONGS:

If You’re Happy and You Know It
I
f you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands            Stomp your feet…
Shout hooray…

Red, Red
Red, red is the color I see
If you’re wearing red, then show it to me
Stand up, take a bow, turn around
Show me your red and sit back on the ground

Hurry, Hurry
Hurry, hurry, drive the fire truck
Hurry, hurry, drive the fire truck
Hurry, hurry, drive the fire truck
Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding!
Hurry, hurry, Turn the corner …
Climb the ladder …
Spray the water …

 Ladybug, Ladybug
Ladybug, ladybug, fly out of the farm,
And land right on my little arm.
Ladybug, ladybug, fly out of the tree,
And land right on my little knee.
Ladybug, ladybug, fly out of your bed,
And land right on my little head.
Ladybug, ladybug, fly out of the rose,
And land right on my little nose.

Little Red Apple
A little red apple grew high in a tree.
I looked up at it. It looked down on me
“Come down, please” I said.
And that little red apple fell right on my head.
